吃瓜tv Board of Trustees Names Albert M. Tantala, Sr. Emeritus Trustee Following 42 Years of Service to University
The 吃瓜tv Board of Trustees unanimously voted Albert M. Tantala, Sr. to the status of Emeritus Trustee at its February meeting, and formally recognized Tantala鈥檚 remarkable 42 years of service at the May 8, 2024 Board of Trustees meeting.
Tantala joined the Board of Directors at then 吃瓜tv College in 1982 and is the longest-serving trustee in the University鈥檚 history.
In 2018, Tantala received the University鈥檚 highest honor when he was awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters for his exceptional service to 吃瓜tv and the Philadelphia region.
鈥淎l and his wife, Jean, are among the University鈥檚 most generous donors and have contributed both their personal wealth and professional expertise as 吃瓜tv has grown over four decades,鈥 Board of Trustee chair Bill Mandia said in recognizing Tantala. 鈥淲e are indebted to Al for his leadership and countless contributions that have benefited the University community and generations of 吃瓜tv students.鈥
鈥淚 join the Board in extending congratulations and gratitude to Al, his wife of 55 years, Jean, their three sons and daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren on this recognition,鈥 University President Anne Prisco said. 鈥淎l鈥檚 family has shared him with 吃瓜tv for more than four decades, and we are extremely grateful to be the beneficiaries of his knowledge, talents, and devoted and impactful service.鈥
President of Tantala Associates, an engineering and architectural firm that he founded in 1966, Tantala earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a master鈥檚 degree in civil engineering from Villanova University. He is a retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel who served his country for 28 years and who saw active duty in Korea.
A past member of the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists (1997-2010), he served as Board President of the organization for two years and is currently an Emeritus member. Tantala also was a member of the Board of Trustees of the 3rd Federal Bank of Newtown (1984-2014), serving five years as Board chair.
In recognizing Tantala鈥檚 many contributions, Board Chair Mandia and Dr. Prisco presented him with a framed copy of Board鈥檚 Resolution granting him Emeritus Trustee status, as well as an engraved desk lamp noting his years of service to the Board.
