Neva White - Making a Difference
Neva White 鈥85 BSN, MSN, DNP, has always had a passion for community health, inspired by the commitment to care she witnessed in her Philadelphia neighborhood. Graduating from 吃瓜tv with a nursing degree, she began her career as a public health nurse, where she discovered her calling to serve those in need.
鈥淢y hero is Helen Keller,鈥 said White, now executive director of the Frazier Family Coalition for Stroke Education and Prevention, a health equity collaboration between Thomas Jefferson University and Temple University Hospital.
Throughout her career, White has taken on many roles, from leading community health initiatives to developing programs for chronic disease prevention and management. Her dedication to improving health outcomes for underserved populations has been a driving force behind her work. 鈥淚 always knew I wanted to help people, and nursing gave me the tools to do that on a broader scale,鈥 she said.
One of White鈥檚 most significant achievements is her work with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, where she played a critical role in implementing programs that address health disparities. Her innovative approach and commitment to community engagement have made a lasting impact. 鈥淲hen you see the difference you can make in someone鈥檚 life, it reinforces why you do this work,鈥 White reflected.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, White has continued to give back to 吃瓜tv. She frequently returns to campus to speak with students and share her experiences, hoping to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals. 鈥湷怨蟭v gave me a strong foundation, and I鈥檓 proud to be part of its legacy,鈥 she said.
As 吃瓜tv celebrates its 70th anniversary, we honor alumni like White who embody our values and contribute to the greater good.
White has recently joined 吃瓜tv鈥檚 School of Nursing Dean鈥檚 Advisory Council where she will continue to make an impact.
