Technical Support
The IT Help Desk
The IT Help Desk is the first point of contact for all requests and problems relating to technology services provided at 吃瓜tv. The Help Desk provides support on a variety of technology-related topics, including, but not limited to:
- Password issues
- Wi-Fi access problems
- Software application support
To contact a member of the IT Help Desk, email us at helpdesk@holyfamily.edu. You can also submit a request through the . A technician will respond to you within one business day. For in-person help on the Philadelphia campus, visit the IT Help Desk Office in the following locations:
- Main Campus (NE Campus): HFU Library 鈥 Lower Floor.
- Monday - Thursday: 7:30 a.m. 鈥 4:30 p.m.
- Support is limited after 4:30 p.m. Monday鈥揟hursday.
- Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.*
- Monday - Thursday: 7:30 a.m. 鈥 4:30 p.m.
- Newtown East & West (NWT E/W): Office is in West Campus, Left to the Lobby.
- Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. 鈥 4:00 p.m.*

Canvas Support Hotline
Canvas support live chat and the Canvas Support Hotline are available twenty-four hours a day to assist you with all of your Canvas needs. These options can be accessed through the Help menu in Canvas. For further support you can call the Canvas Support Hotline at 844-243-8404.
Accounts Setup
User Account Information
You will receive your user account information, which will allow you to log in to several campus systems and lab computers on campus.
Please refer to the following lists to determine which username to use when logging in to 吃瓜tv software systems.

Student ID Card
The university provides students with an ID card that identifies the cardholder by picture, name, and function. In addition to identification, ID cards are necessary for building access, the use of the library, LRC, sports facilities, and printing from shared printers/copiers. Replacement IDs are $10; you can pay for them in Self-Service or stop by the Student Accounts Office in 吃瓜tv Hall 215.
You will receive your Student ID during student orientation. If you do not receive your ID card for any reason, let us know by emailing hfuid@holyfamily.edu with your professional photo, and then obtain it in person from the following locations:
- Main Campus (Northeast Campus): Campus Center 鈥 Security Desk
- Monday-Friday: 9:00 AM 鈥 4:00 pm
- Newtown East & West (NWT- E & W): Security Desk
- Monday-Friday: 9:00 am 鈥 4:00 pm
Please report lost or stolen ID cards immediately by visiting the Security Desk at any campus, calling 267-341-3333, or emailing hfuid@holyfamily.edu with your details. Lost or broken IDs will be replaced for a $10 fee. To initiate the payment online using Self-Service, or make your payment in-person at the Student Accounts Office (267-341-3202).
TigerWiFi
The University's enterprise wireless network is named "tigerWiFi". To configure the network on your wireless device, review the following documents:
Self-Service
Self-Service is a web-based tool that allows you to register for classes and to view your schedule once posted. You can log in to Self-Service directly or access it from the 吃瓜tv webpage.
Microsoft Office 365
吃瓜tv students are eligible to download and install Microsoft Office 365 on up to five computers for free with their Holy family accounts as long as they are students with 吃瓜tv.
Sign in at using your 吃瓜tv email address and password, click 鈥淚nstall Office apps鈥 at the top, right-hand side of the page, and choose 鈥淥ffice 365鈥 from the drop-down menu. Follow the onscreen instructions. Note: When you leave the University, your Office 365 license will end.
Password Reset
The University uses Single-Sign-On to connect many of your online accounts (Gmail, Self-Service, Canvas) with a single username and password. If you are unable to log in to applications or if you鈥檝e just forgotten your password, follow the steps in the guide below to reset your password.
You will need to manually update the password for email clients on your mobile devices.
Printing Quota
All 吃瓜tv students receive a printing quota of 400 sheets per year. You will have 400 complimentary sheets to use from July 1 through June 30. At the end of each 1-year printing period, your quota will automatically be refreshed with another 400 complimentary sheets.
If you use your entire quota before the 1-year printing period, you can add additional sheets by (with this link with Username & Password) or by visiting the Student Accounts Office - Room 202 HFH.
Hardware
Desktop/Laptop Setup
Full-time employees requiring a device receive one pre-installed with required software on their first day of employment. Log in using your 吃瓜tv username and the password from Human Resources.
Printer/copiers setup & operation
PaperCut is 吃瓜tv鈥檚 print management software. With PaperCut, you can securely print to any shared printer/copier on campus by simply swiping your 吃瓜tv ID Card and pressing print. For additional help check our Printing Instructions website.
Shared printers (HFU-Find-Me-Print Printers) are primarily for printing 8 陆 X 11, but will accommodate other paper sizes via the Bypass Tray and other trays.

Departments maintain a small stack of printer papers. All 吃瓜tv employees and students are encouraged to print double-sided.

Canvas (Learning Management System)
is a self-paced, online course designed to familiarize you with the tools and concepts you need to know to successfully build and teach a course in Canvas.
吃瓜tv provides access to your email through Gmail, a web-based email service. Gmail provides unlimited mailbox storage, chat integration, and enhanced mail
search. .
Google Workspace
Google Workspace is the new name for Google Apps, a suite of productivity software including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and more. 吃瓜tv makes Google Workspace available for faculty, staff, and students. Learn more about .
MS Office 365
吃瓜tv has partnered with Microsoft to provide Office 365 to all current students, staff, and faculty. Office 365 combines Microsoft Office applications and the cloud to create a more convenient, collaborative, and consistent work and file management outlet. Learn about Office 365 at the .
Classroom
吃瓜tv IT Department makes multi-purpose computer labs (and printing) available to students during the university鈥檚 regular operational hours.
Computer Labs
Labs are available to students when they are not in use as a classroom. Lab PCs can be accessed using the user鈥檚 name and password emailed to you by the Registrar鈥檚 Office. Printers are also available in most labs.
Students are required to abide by the Electronic Communications Acceptable Use Policy.
Practice Secure Computing
- Don鈥檛 share user accounts.
- Keep passwords private
- Never give out passwords in an email
- Don鈥檛 turn off anti-virus software
- Log out when you are away from your computer
- Don鈥檛 store confidential information on removable media or your hard drive
- Store important files on network drives (Q:), Google Drive
- Desktops are not backed up. Users are responsible for backing up and securing any files stored on the desktop.
